27.9.2007 at 17:15
The Finnish Union of Practical Nurses (Super) on Thursday approved a pay and conditions offer by the Commission for Local Authority Employers.
The union delegates approved the offer with 30 to four votes against.
Juhani Palomäki, the chairman of Super, said the outcome of the vote meant that the union would not strike whatever the response by the Union of Health and Social Care Professionals (Tehy).
Tehy is to announce its verdict on the offer on Saturday.
Mr Palomäki added the draft deal would give the nurses higher wage increases than those secured by industrial workers.
Unions representing other municipal workers have already approved the municipalities' offer for a labour agreement.
